Biography

Sylvie Renault was born in Issoudun, France, in 1979. After having graduated (Baccalauréat in Litterature) in 1997 she entered the Academy of Arts of Châteauroux, then of Bordeaux. Feeling out of place in an environment she considered too conceptual, she moved on to other jobs: superviser, editorial assistant, press correspondant…

Having lost the drive to paint since her father passed away she managed to find inspiration again at the end of 2008 when interviewing an artist, Lucien Verdenet. After eight years of “creative void” this encounter was the trigger. From then on, Sylvie piched up the brushes again, experimented, drew…

Her topics (identity, feminity, childhood or loneliness) have imposed themselves on the cavas. Encouragements poured in, meetings multiplied. In 2010 her first exhibition was held in Bourges’ Galerie Pictura. More followed in the region, in Nevers and in Paris. By the end on 2012 Sylvie settled with her easel and brushes in La Charité sur Loire where she’s been living since, exploring the meanders of intimacy.
